Laser treatments in dental treatment
Laser applications have been used in medicine since the 60s.
The use of laser devices, which have been used in limited areas for nearly 20
years in dentistry clinics, has expanded with the advancement of laser
technology.
What is a laser? How does it work?
The word laser can be described as "Stimulating the
Light". The laser device is basically a light amplifier. The light waves
generated by the laser device are a form of electromagnetic energy. Dental
lasers work with the principle of hydrokinetic energy obtained by the combination
of atomized water sprays with laser energy.
Where is it applied in laser dentistry?
With the new dental lasers, both soft tissue (palate) and
hard tissue (tooth enamel) operations can be performed easily.
Some of these applications:
Cleaning dental caries, dental fillings
Canal treatments
All kinds of surgical procedures in the jawbone and gingiva,
shaping the gingiva
Sensitization of sensitive teeth
Teeth whitening
Opening of dark-colored gums
Treatment of mouth sores, aphthae
Advantages of laser applications:
With the new generation dental laser, it is possible to work
without touching the teeth and other tissues. In this way, heat, vibration and
friction due to pain does not occur due to the need for tooth numbing.
Therefore, it is preferable for all age group patients who have fear of
dentist.
100% disinfection and sterilization is provided in the area
where laser is used.
The selective treatment of the decayed laser beam allows the
treatment to be completed with minimal material loss. (Only removes the rotten
area from the tooth.)
There is almost no bleeding during the operation with laser.
After each surgery, complications, swelling and discomfort are reduced and a
faster recovery is achieved.
Laser "teeth whitening" operations in a very short
time is possible to get better results.
In patients with genetically excessive violet coloration
(hyperpigmentation) in the gums, this problem can be eliminated by laser
peeling in 3 or 4 sessions.
With laser applications, composite filling applications
known as laser fillers and hardened by a light source should not be confused
with each other.
